Hamid Karzai returns to Kabul after a several-day trip to Germany

Hamid Karzai, the former President of Afghanistan, who had traveled to Germany some time ago, returned to Kabul on Tuesday, December 18

A source close to Karzai confirmed his return to Kabul, stating that during his several-day trip to Germany, Mr. Karzai met with officials from the various countries such as: United Kingdom, Turkey, Germany, the United Arab Emirates, and other countries.

According to the source, the current situation in Afghanistan was the central topic of discussion between the former president and these officials.

Although Afghanistan remains isolated from the international community, it is said that Mr. Karzai’s goal in these meetings was to find solutions for ending this isolation and resolving the current crisis in Afghanistan.

According to the source, continuing humanitarian aid, national dialogue with former politicians, and re-engaging the world’s attention on Afghanistan were among the topics discussed by Mr. Karzai with officials from the mentioned countries.

It has also been reported that Mr. Karzai held discussions with former politicians regarding intra-Afghan talks.

Since the establishment of the caretaker government in Afghanistan, Hamid Karzai is among the few politicians who have not left the country.

Although the doors of schools and universities for girls remain closed under the caretaker government, Mr. Karzai has repeatedly called for their reopening.

He has consistently urged the caretaker government to reopen the doors of education and knowledge to girls.
